England rest Wilkinson for Uruguay

England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson has been rested as England coach Clive Woodward rings the changes for the Pool C match with Uruguay on Sunday, although influential flanker Richard Hill has still not recovered from a hamstring injury.
Mike Catt will make his first England start for two years in the centres and will line up alongside fellow South African-born centre Stuart Abbott. Paul Grayson takes over from Wilkinson, who will enjoy a day off along with fellow first-choice players Jason Robinson, Mike Tindall, Matt Dawson, Ben Kay and Jason Leonard. Dan Luger finds his way onto the field - legally this time - and will start on the left-wing, with Iain Balshaw patrolling the opposite flank of the Suncorp Stadium pitch. New father Martin Corry will complete an exhausting week with his first start of the tournament. The Leicester player will come in at lock, having returned from his whistle-stop visit to the UK to witness the birth of his first child. Corry will pair up with Danny Grewcock, who also makes his debut in the tournament having recovered from a broken toe. Lawrence Dallaglio plays his third game of the tournament, but has been passed over for the captaincy, that honour goes to prop Phil Vickery who will lead England for the second time. Joe Worsley and Lewis Moody complete the back row owing to the ongoing hamstring injury that has hampered first-choice flanker Richard Hill's RWC progress. Hill's prodigious work-ethic offers England a vital edge that was sorely missed during their games against South Africa and Samoa, but Woodward insists that the Saracens player will still feature for England in the coming weeks. "It is still a slight hamstring twinge and it has not quite healed so the medical staff told me after another scan on Monday," Woodward said. "We don't want to take risks with him and prefer he is back fully fit for the semi-finals."
