Ururguay are Intercontinental Champions!

Uruguay beat Portugal 30-3 in Montevideo on Saturday to become the first winners of the Copa Intercontinental. In Santiago Chile beat Georgia 30-24.

100-up for ruthless England

England - with fullback Josh Lewsey scoring five tries - recorded a 111-13 win over Uruguay at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Sunday, the English topping Pool C a the RWC and setting up a quarter-final showdown against the Pool D runners-up.

First win for Uruguay

Three tries - one of which was set up by skipper Diego Aguirre - helped Uruguay to clinch their first victory of the 2003 Rugby World Cup as 'Los Teros' overcame Pool C rivals Georgia by 24-12 in a gripping ecounter at Aussie Stadium in Sydney on Tuesday.

Samoa deliver as always

Pacific Islanders Samoa lived up to their reputation as great Rugby World Cup entertainers on Wednesday, scoring a bagful of tries - including two from impressive flanker Maurie Fa'asavalu -  to beat Uruguay by 60-13 in a Pool C encounter in Perth.

Joost's blitz sparks Springboks

The Springboks started their 2003 RWC campaign with a 72-6 win over Uruguay in Perth on Saturday, sparked by a two-try blitz from captain Joost van der Westhuizen in the first five minutes. He completed his hat-trick in the second half.
