Quick throw-insLaw 19.2 It happened when France played Italy and a Frenchman stopped an Italian from throwing in quickly. So we have a simple test on the quick throw-in from touch. You can find out all about quick throw-ins from touch all if you read Law 19.2, but we have provided some answers, just for checking purposes. Answer the questions before you look up the answers! The match is between the Irish Heroes and the English Warriors, played at Seasdowne Road in Darkpool. 1. Harris throws in quickly to Martin Wellington, the English Warriors captain. You will: a. let play go on. 3. Jonny Montgomery, five metres from his goalline, kicks the ball into touch 35 metres downfield. The ball rolls in touch and bounces back towards the touchline off an advertising board. Geordan Boru, the Irish Warriors fullback, gathers the ball in touch, turns and throws it in quickly to Denis Sarsfield, the Irish Warriors wing. You will: a. let play go on. 4. Josh Kitchener, the English Warriors fullback, goes to take a quick throw-in from touch. As he does so, the ball slips from his hand, bounces four metres from touch and then bounces on a further seven metres. You will: a. let play go on 5. Geordan Boru, the Irish Warriors fullback, wants to take a quick throw-in from touch. Jason Harris, the flying English Warriors wing, stands a metre from the touch line, arms spread, preventing the throw in. You will: a. have a Kline-out, Irish Warriors ball 6. Dennis Sarsfield of the Irish Warriors charges down the wing but Jason Harris of the English Warriors forces him into touch. Harris tries to get the ball from Sarsfield for a quick throw-in to his fullback Josh Kitchener who is calling for the ball. Sarsfield clings to the ball and refuses to let it go. You will: a. have a line-out, English Warriors ball 7. Geordan Boru of the Irish Warriors wants to take a quick throw-in. Standing at the line of throw are Malcolm Cúchulainn, the Irish Warriors lock and Anthony O'Neill, their No.8 as well as Richard Buller, the English Warriors flank. Boru throws in and Cúchulainn catches the ball. You will: a. let play go on. 8. After the English Warriors score, David Tone, the Irish Warriors fly-half, kicks off. He kicks off too far and the ball lands far over the touchline and bounces into the crowd. The English Warriors captain, Martin Wellington, says nothing but the forwards of both sides head for the middle of the half-way line, but Matt Gordon, the English Warriors scrum-half, grabs a ball from the ball boy, runs to the half-way line and throws in quickly from touch to Jason Harris, the English Warriors wing. Harris flies off. You will: a. let play go on 9. From just inside his 22 David Tone, the Irish Warriors fly-half, kicks far downfield. The ball goes into touch on the full just inside the English Warriors half. Jason Harris, the English Warriors wing, throws in quickly to Josh Kitchener, the English Warriors fullback. As Harris throws, Keith Parnell, the Irish Warriors flank, rushes forward some six metres and tackles Kitchener. You will: a. let play go on 10. After a line-out Peter Pearse, the Irish Warriors scrum-half, kicks the ball from outside his 22 directly into touch some 20 metres downfield. The forwards drift towards the place opposite where the ball was kicked and the touch judge is standing. Two of the English Warriors forwards are at the line of throw and three of the Irish Warriors forwards.
