White praises his youngsters
Saturday November 27 2004
'Credit must go to all the new players'
An obviously delighted Springbok coach Jake White was full of praise for the newcomers in his team, after South Africa's thrashed a woeful Scotland 45-10 at Murrayfield in Edinburgh on Saturday. After the disappointment of the last two weeks, which saw the Boks go down 17-12 to Ireland and 32-16 to England - the South African public was baying for blood. White hopes this win will get the fans back in the Bok camp. "We live in a rugby nation that is passionate about the game," White said. "The last two weeks we didn't perform so to win today [Saturday] and in the style we did was very satisfying." White also felt the seven changes he made to his side contributed to the turnaround. "Credit must go to all the new players who came into the side today," said White. "They certainly raised the intensity of the team performance. The youngsters in the side certainly showed that they want to part of the squad. "We got off to a good start and from then on the players gained confidence. We were obviously helped by the second interception try. Scotland were pressing at that stage so it was a 14 points swinger. And it shows that sometimes things go for you in a game."
