Jason White back to battle Boks
Thursday November 25 2004
Bulloch joins Logan in record
Scotland coach Matt Williams has made just two changes, one postional, to his team for the team's Test against South Africa at Murrayfield on Saturday with hard-hitting flanker making his return to the starting XV. White of Sale Sharks returns at blindside flanker to earn his 43rd cap, while Allister Hogg moves to number eight in a positional switch, which sees Glasgow skipper Jon Petrie drop down to the bench. Utility back Chris Paterson, meanwhile, wins his 50th cap, while captain Gordon Bulloch equals Kenny Logan's record as second most-capped Scotland international on 70 appearances. Bok coach Jake White stressed earlier in the week that his team were the underdogs going into the match on the back of consecutive defeats to Ireland and England, but Scotland would do well to pay little credence to White's affirmations. Despite the Boks resting a number of their stars - including flanker Schalk Burger - they will still field a strong team, with big forwards to grind down the middle and a dangerous backline behind them. And Williams called on fans to come out in force at Murrayfield to help Scotland repeat the defeat of the Springboks two years ago. "I encourage all Scotland supporters to come along to Murrayfield to cheer on the team," he said. "South Africa are the Tri-Nations champions and represent formidable opposition but our players are eager and ready."
