Cusiter hungry for victory over Boks

'We can live with South Africa'

Scotland have already turned their attentions to notching up a victory over struggling South Africa at Murrayfield on Saturday, despite being beaten 31-17 by Australia at Hampden Park last weekend.

Ready for Boks: Chris Cusiter

Borders scrum-half Chris Cusiter - voted man-of-the-match at Hampden Park - admitted it had been frustrating to see an improved Scots performance met with another defeat.

"It's hard and very frustrating to come to terms with," Cusiter told the Scotsman.

"We played well to keep ourselves in the game after an hour, but it's so annoying that we've put ourselves in similar positions in at least three games but haven't gone on and made that next step.

"That's the big challenge for everyone because you can go along playing the Wallabies and lose by 15 points year after year and it's not going to do us any good - sooner or later we've got to finish the game with more points than them.

"I enjoyed my breaks - it was just instinct, I saw gaps - but it was disappointing they didn't come to anything.

"But Australia put themselves in the right position and put points on the board; when we got into the same position we did not get the points - we didn't capitalise as we should - and that is the difference between the teams.

"But we're looking forward now. South Africa are a good team - Tri-Nations champions - and will be a big challenge, but if we can live with Australia for large parts of the game, then we can live with South Africa.

"I feel we can look forward to that game with optimism and a bit of confidence because we are playing good rugby at times.

"Hampden was good, but I'm looking forward to getting back to Murrayfield because it's a different experience playing there and hopefully that will spur us on to get the win."
