Injury blow as Kiwis head to San Diego

Auckland's DJ Forbes has been ruled out of the New Zealand team for this weekend's International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens World Series tournament in San Diego because of a shoulder injury.

Forbes has been diagnosed with a Grade Two AC joint strain.

He will be replaced by Taranaki's Scott Waldrom, who last played for New Zealand in 2002.

The New Zealand team departs Auckland for Los Angeles on Monday.

New Zealand is in Pool D for the San Diego tournament on February 10 and 11 (Saturday and Sunday) and will play pool matches against Canada, Chile and France on Day One.
