Boots not yet hung: Charvis may play this year

The Dragons have announced that Colin Charvis will remain with the region as contact and defence skills coach for new season, and will also be available to take to the field if required.

The experienced flank, who is Wales' most-capped forward with 94 to his name, has played 42 times for the Dragons since joining in 2006.

And Head Coach Paul Turner is delighted to have secured the 35-year-old's services in his new role at the Magners League side.

"Colin has spent the past two weeks with the region on a temporary basis and it's clear that he has great ideas about the game and the future at the Dragons," Turner said, speaking to the club's official website.

"He has a huge knowledge of the game and a proven commitment to the Dragons region, since joining us from Newcastle in 2006.

"Colin has already passed a great deal of experience on to the players around him and everyone at the Dragons are excited about his decision to stay with the club."

Charvis has flourished at Rodney Parade in recent years and capped another fine season with a one-off November Test start against South Africa in addition to making Wales' World Cup squad.

"I am really glad for the opportunity to work with the Dragons for another year," Charvis said.

"If I can help with some skills and contact area coaching, it is a great experience for me and a good opportunity to continue enjoying my time with the region, following two very happy years.

"There are some very good young players here and it would be great to pass on my experience of the past thirteen years to them.

"It's very flattering that the management here have been so keen to hold on to me for another year and I hope that some hard work in the role that they have created will benefit the region."
