Treviso edged past the Glasgow Warriors 19-16 on Saturday to overtake the Scottish side in the Magners League table.
A converted try by back-row Robert Barbieri aided by 14 points from the boot of fly-half Willem De Waal helped the Italian team to their first victory in seven attempts.
Glasgow replied with a score of their own from centre Graeme Morrison with stand-off Ruaridh Jackson adding three penalties and a conversion, but they couldn't build on their recent revival which had seen them win two of their last three matches.
De Waal opened the scoring for the hosts on nine minutes with his first penalty of the game but Jackson replied with one of his own. Glasgow's fly-half then added another three points but his opposite number hit back to level matters with the last action of the half to leave it finely balanced at 6-6.
The away side got off to the worse possible start just a minute into the second period when loosehead prop Ryan Grant was sin-binned.
And Treviso took advantage when Barbieri powered over, De Waal converting. However, the Warriors weren't restricted by the loss of Grant and duly hit back through Morrison, Jackson also adding the extras.
The two fly-halves then traded penalties to leave scores level at 16-16 with 20 minutes to go. But it was left to De Waal to score the final points with a drop-kick, and despite the away side pressing late on they were unable to snatch victory.
