Woodward set to name coaching team

Thursday press conference in Cardiff

Lions coach Sir Clive Woodward will announce his coaching team for the 2005 Lions tour to New Zealand next June at a press conference in Cardiff on October 20.

Woodward is set to break the mould by taking an unprecedented number of coaches on the tour.

Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan is likely to be joined by England boss Andy Robinson and England's defensive coach Phil Larder, the latter two both of whom served under Graham Henry on the 2001 Lions tour to Australia.

There has also been speculation that the midweek combination could have its own coach, possibly headed by the most successful Lions boss of all time, former Scotland coach Ian McGeechan, with Llanelli's Gareth Jenkins and Saracens and former Ireland defensive coach Mike Ford also involved.
