Toulouse have ensured at least a Top 14 play-off place after a difficult 28-23 win over Racing Metro at Stade Ernest-Wallon on Friday.
Racing's bonus point though, sealed by an Andrew Mehrtens penalty four minutes from time, could yet be precious in the Parisians' own quest to seal a play-off spot.
After watching Mehrtens give Racing Metro the lead with a drop goal, Clement Poitrenaud drew the first cheer of the night with a terrific try, taking the ball on an angle from David Skrela, who converted to give Toulouse a 7-3 lead.
That was it for the first half though, with only penalties from Skrela and Mehrtens adding to the scoring and sending Toulouse into the changing rooms 10-6 ahead at the break.
Within five minutes of the restart though, Toulouse were in control. Skrela had landed a further penalty and then flanker Yoann Maestri went over for his team's second try to leave the Toulousains 18-6 to the good.
Back came Racing. Mehrtens chipped away at the lead with two penalties before Jacques Cronje's try brought the visitors to within a point.
But the effort proved too much and Toulouse finished stronger, with Skrela landing a further penalty and Jean Bouilhou's try sealing the win before Mehrtens claimed a deserced bonus point for the visitors.
