Richards injury blow to Wasps

London Wasps centre/scrumhalf, Peter Richards, is set to miss six weeks of rugby as a result of the knee injury sustained during the final moments of Mondays Zurich Premiership game against Gloucester.

Richards will miss Wasps' crucial Heineken Cup match in Biarritz in January and faces a race against time to be fit for the next leg of the IRB World Sevens tournament in Wellington.

"Its a pity Pete suffered this injury as hes done really well for us this season", said Director of rugby Warren Gatland.

"With injuries to Fraser Waters (ankle) and Ayoola Erinle (quad) we are starting to run short of centers.

"However, we still have Stuart Abbott and Rob Hoadley, which means, we are not panicking yet. Ayoola should hopefully be available for the Calvisano game."
