Collins appeals costly ban

New hearing on Friday

All Black loose forward Jerry Collins has appealed his two-match ban, following a dangerous tackle on Southland's Paul Miller in an Air New Zealand NPC Round Nine match last Saturday. The New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) Appeal Council will hear Collins' case at the NZRUs offices in Wellington on Friday.

Collins was sent off the field following a dangerous tackle on Miller in the NPC Division One match played between Wellington and Southland at Invercargill last Saturday.

A NZRU Judicial Committee on Wednesday suspended Collins from all rugby for two weeks, up to an including October 27.

The NZRU Appeal Council will be made up of Ron Don, Charlie Rhodes and John Pringle.

Collins stand to miss out on Wellington's NPC semi-final against Waikato in Wellington on Saturday and a possible Final, if the Lions are victorious over the Mooloo Men.
