Boks on tour in UK

Can South Africa's women wreak revenge?

Wales twice played - and beat - South Africa in South Africa, the first Tests played by the Springbok women, who are now on tour in the UK. The teams meet again on Saturday, 30 April 2005.

The touring Springboks have a large party, capable of fielding two teams and equipped as any Springbok men's team would be.

They played their first match on Tuesday against the Wales development team and won 17-10.

Of that winning team only Melissa Sonnekus is in the starting team for the Test, though Magdalene Pylman, Nadia Muller, Dolly Mavumengwana, Lilly Coetzee and Dinah Zweni are on the bench.

The captain of the women Springboks is Nomsebenzi Tsotsobe, the daughter of a great wing, the late Toto Tsotsobe.

Wales ended last in the Six Nations with only a draw with the Spain as any solace. Their only recent victories this year were in the two Tests against South Africa in South Africa last May, winning 8-5 in Port Elizabeth and 16-15 in Pretoria.

Wales have two new caps on the bench - Dolgellau Lock, Louise Akers, who played for the development team against the Springboks, and UWIC flanker, Rhian Bowden, the captain of Wales Under-19.
