Baby daughter for Brent Cockbain

Wales lock has reason to celebrate
Wales and Ospreys lock Brent Cockbain and his wife Kate are celebrating the birth of their first daughter, Pippa Carys, who was born in Cardiff on Monday. The baby's arrival comes seven months after the couple's first baby, Toby, died from a rare brain tumour aged just 13 months. Since the death of their son, the Cockbains have worked to support children's cancer charities, and have set up the Toby Lloyd Cockbain Foundation (TLC) to raise money to support children with cancer and their families. Members of the Wales squad have supported the Cockbains' fundraising efforts, and have raise more than £30,000 ($56,500) for the children's cancer charity Latch, with the sale of Gavin Henson's silver boots adding a bob or two to the grand total. Pippa Carys Cockbain arrived less than an hour before the 2005 British and Irish Lions squad was unveiled for the tour to New Zealand. Despite his outstanding performances during the RBS Six Nations, Cockbain was not one of the ten Welsh players named in Sir Clive Woodward's 44-man squad. But the new father admitted it was probably a "blessing in disguise" that he had not been selected. "I would have loved to have gone but I knew right from the start there were a lot of good second rows to be picked from - the guys they have picked are exceptional locks," Cockbain told the BCC Wales.
