Blue Bulls centre Wynand Olivier has been ruled out of the Springboks' end-of-year tour to Europe with a groin injury.
The 27-year-old, who featured for the Bulls in Saturday's Currie Cup semi-final loss against the Sharks, will undergo surgery later this week and is likely to be out of action until at least January.
"It's an injury that I have been struggling with for at least four or five weeks now and it almost kept me out of the Currie Cup semi-final last weekend," he told SuperSport.com.
"While it is disappointing to not be considered for the tour at the end of the year, I believe it is the right decision to undergo the operation now and ensure that I'm fit and ready for the 2010 season.
"We have the Super Rugby competition and the World Cup next year."
Olivier's withdrawal from the squad leaves coach Peter de Villiers a little thin on the midfield front as Jaque Fourie has also been forced out of the tour with an injury.
Western Province duo Juan de Jongh and Jean de Villiers as well as recalled Sharks utility back Adrian Jacobs are the only centres in the 39-man Springbok training squad.

Easy...... Meyer Bosman. Otherwise they could consider Coenie Oosthuizen as he seems to be able to round of moves, take the crash ball and dotts down regularly!!!
