Lions fly-half Elton Jantjies and Sharks utility back Patrick Lambie have been called up to the Springbok squad for a preliminary training camp ahead of the end of year tour.
Jantjies and Lambie have both been in outstanding form for their respective provinces in the Currie Cup. The former played an instrumental role in the Lions' resurgence midway through the tournament while Lambie helped the Sharks to a Currie Cup final spot.
Sharks wing Lwazi Mvovo and Western Province number eight Duane Vermeulen are also included in the squad following excellent performances in the domestic competition.
The majority of the players in the 39-man squad were on duty for the Springboks during the Tri-Nations earlier this year.
This is despite earlier indications from the Bok management that they would rest senior players like Victor Matfield and Schalk Burger with next year's World Cup in New Zealand in mind.
The players will attend a two-day training camp which starts in Pretoria on Friday.
The Springboks kick off their end of year tour kicks against Ireland in Dublin on November 10 before they head over to Wales, Scotland and England.
Preliminary Springbok Training Group:
Backs: Gio Aplon (Western Province), Bjorn Basson (Griquas), Juan de Jongh, Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana (all Western Province), Francois Hougaard (Blue Bulls), Adrian Jacobs (Sharks), Elton Jantjies (Lions), Ricky Januarie (Western Province), Zane Kirchner (Blue Bulls), Patrick Lambie, Lwazi Mvovo (both Sharks), Wynand Olivier (Blue Bulls), JP Pietersen (Sharks), Morne Steyn (Blue Bulls).

A better group than that chosen for the 2009 EOYT, glad to see some new talent being backed in the front row (Kruger & Oosthuizen) and also that Alberts & Vermuelen get deserved callups, think they are the sort of players that will be needed when the chips are down (as they will be). Like Clinton I'm not happy about the current state of the backline, some real talent there but the coaching and tactics will be the same woeful stuff we're used to lately, unless there's an injection of inventiveness from someone else. Still, hope a lot of these new guys go onto TriNations next year.

All those talented backline players are absolutely worthless if the coach is going to continue licking the likes of Januarie and Kirchner. Even Morne Steyn is currently not the top flyhalf in the country. I hope I am proven wrong for PDV's sake.
