Peter de Villiers: Anyone want to sign up?

Who wants to help the Bok coaches? It appears a consultant post is not sought-after with several people turning it down in recent days as they don't want be part of a "circus".

Reports have even suggested that Dick Muir and Gary Gold are set to be fired as Bok assistant coaches and The Star claims Head Coach Peter de Villiers has offered the jobs to several people "behind the backs" of the two incumbents.

De Villiers' search for consultants - who will either just lend a hand or take up the posts full-time up to next year's World Cup in New Zealand - has failed to yield results so far with the Lions' John Mitchell, Bulls director Heyneke Meyer, Western Province's Allister Coetzee and Bulls coach Frans Ludeke turning down the position in recent weeks.

A South African Rugby Union official admits he is not very impressed with the way the process has been handled.

"It's a circus at the moment," the Saru official told The Star.

"One day we hear this guy's been approached, the next day we see someone's made himself available, but hasn't been approached ..."

Saru president Oregan Hoskins confirmed that the speculation is not helping.

"We need to stop all these rumours and put to bed all the speculation around the coach," Hoskins said on Thursday.

"What's going on at the moment is not good for the organisation.

"I know a lot of negativity has resulted because of this situation. But we are working around the clock to sort the matter out as soon as possible."

Did SARU really think that these guys would just humbly jump to the opportunity to lend a helping hand? Respect is not given, it is earned. And it is not easily earned either! These fine men of South African rugby, ie Frans Ludeke, Heyneke Meyer, Allistair Coetzee and lately even the Kiwi John Mitchell, will simply not risk their admirable reputations. The message is very simple: They know they deserve every achievement they have made and they will simply not allow anyone to meassure them on the same scale as a politically appointed man, who at no stage even had a glimmer of hope to be the prime candidate for the coaching position right from the start. Oregan Hoskins, you had your chance to make use of the cream of rugby masterminds in this country, but you decided to show the middle finger to them. So now they are showing it right back at you. I would've done exactly the same.

Now there is the understatement of the year. So Hoskins is blaming speculation and the press for what is going on?...How about his uttter incompetence in his original selections? He is tighter up the ANC's @rse then springbok scrum.
