The Springbok is on the move again. No, we are not talking about Peter de Villiers' team, but about the emblem on the Bok jersey.
First the Springbok logo moved from the left to the right to accommodate the Protea and now it will disappear off the chest completely.
It will be shifted to the left sleeve of Bok jerseys for the World Cup as regulations state that the International Rugby Board's logo for next year's showpiece must appear on the right hand side of players' tops.
The South African Rugby Union confirmed the move on Friday, stating that "contractual and legislative requirements" forced them to shift the logo.
"The decision was very straightforward in the end as our attempts to find a place for the Springbok on the front of the jersey failed to find favour," said Dr Jan Marais, chairman of the Executive Council.
On the up side for South African fans, the move applies only to IRB events and other teams have also been forced to move their emblems with the Wallaby logo also moving to the sleeve.
"We were left with no choice and the important point to note is that this application will only be for IRB World Cup events," Marais added.
Those who followed the recent Women's World Cup in England will have noted that the jerseys of the Springbok Women's team sported the logo on the left sleeve.

Its a bl@@dy circus...the whole ANC Govt and sporting bodies. Why not change the green and gold top while at it?
I think a Joseph technicolour dream coat with stripes of ...Red, green, black, white, blue, orange, amber, purple and pink and scarlett, and....will look wonderfully credible......

The Black ANC government hate the Springbok. Their xenophobic bigotism has driven our emblem off the shirt - it was always the plan. They have won and the lovers of RUGBY IN SOUTH AFRICA have lost. If the Springbok goes, I will join many of my fellow expats and start supporting another international team.

And why the RWC Rugby Board logo on the chest instead of on the sleeve? To me this is a real issue, too. It looks as if the players should need to have their love for the IRB close to their hearts too... I find it really stupid.
Why the protea on the chest? Is it more important than the Springbok? Is this in the agenda, to turn the Springboks into "The Proteas"? Apparently for the "new" South Africa political leaders it is... No wonder André Brink, the great writer and rugby fan, is so frustrated with the politicians of today.
Players now have to show the sponsors logos, the national emblems, the shirtmaker's logo, the RWC IRB logo... Soon they won't have any room for the numbers on the shirts...

Well, I am a kiwi and even I agree. Bok emblem should stay. Why not move the CCC logo to the sleeve and have the Bok emblem in the centre. Why is the jersey brand logo getting favour over the team logo.
Sad Sad Sad, these muppets in charge are basing decisions on past hurt. What a mess we have had since the coloured folk took charge.
At least in my mind, they will always be the Boks, and they will always be the measure for which the All Blacks strive to beat. No matter how much these twits in charge do their best to sabotage one of the greatest brands in sport.

They could leave the emblem off completely and they'd still be the Springboks for the next 1000 years....long after Luke "club level" Watson and his "cheeky" little father have stopped sucking up.

What the heck for!!!
Every child; black, white and/or colored want to play for the mighty Springboks!!! Ask any South African child and they will tell you the same. The decision makers, on the other hand, have got motives that are based on folly fuelled by hurt in the passed.
Put the protea on the sleeve! The Springboks used to be one of (or the only) team that clutched the emblem on the left of their chests, sygnifying an undying respect, commitment and honour of the task at hand, respresenting South Africa as a SPRINGBOK!!! Not a pretty protea.
These politicians (not all of them), will use what ever is left of the "race row fuel" to support their own agendas! Shame on you!
Go Springboks!!! RWC2011 Champs!
