French-based utility back Francois Steyn is set to return to the Springbok camp on Monday as they hope to avoid the Tri-Nations wooden spoon.
The saga surrounding Steyn's availability/willingness to play for South Africa will finally be buried it seems after SARU secured his release from Racing Métro for the remaining Mandela Plate fixtures against Australia in Pretoria and Bloemfontein.
"He played 80 minutes on Friday and having had a discussion with Metro coach Pierre Berbizier and Peter (de Villiers), he will join the team this week," SARU national teams manager Andy Marinos told reporters in the South African capital.
"He played full-back against Montpellier on Friday and he's happy to join us."
With the Springboks under intense pressure to avoid their worst Tri-Nations campaign in years and considering Steyn's clearly strained relationship with the team's Head Coach, it will be interesting to see if he is drafted straight back into the starting line-up.
The Springboks will also have centre Jaque Fourie available after he missed last Saturday's loss to the All Blacks due to suspension.
Likewise, whether Fourie is slotted straight back into the run-on side remains to be seen after Juan de Jongh's strong performance in Soweto.

De Jongh and Fourie at centre, Steyn at Full Back, Aplon on the wing, De Villiers and Habana on the bench realising they need to up their game if they want to start. Worth a try.
