Scotland's sevens for Wellington
Wednesday January 19 2005
Five new faces for New Zealand and America trips
Scotland sevens coach Rob Moffat has named his twelves-strong squad for the upcoming IRB sevens tournaments in Wellington and Los Angeles. Glasgow's Kenny Sinclair returns to the fold after recovering form injury, and Alasdair Strokosch retains his place, despite being called away from the Dubai leg for full international duty. Dave MIllard, also of Glasgow, makes his Scotland sevens debut, as do Kelly Brown and Calum MacRae of Borders. "This is a strong squad and that is exactly what we want," said Moffat. "Dave Millard and Ali Strokosch will be appearing at their first IRB tournaments although Dave played for the Scottish Thistles three and a half years ago at Henley. "He's got pace and is a natural runner with good ball skills. As with all our players, we feel that playing sevens at this level will help develop both Dave and Ali's games." Scotland sevens squad: Mark Lee (The Army), David Gray (Gala), Oli Brown (Boroughmuir), Alasdair Strokosch (Edinburgh Rugby and Scottish Institute of Sport), Kelly Brown (The Borders and Scottish Institute of Sport), Jamie Blackwood (Watsonians), Calum MacRae (The Borders and Scottish Institute of Sport), Clark Laidlaw (Jed-Forest), Kenny Sinclair (Glasgow Hawks), Paul Boston (Edinburgh Rugby), David Millard (Glasgow Rugby), Andrew Turnbull (The Borders).
