Clive Stuart-Smith to captain England
England Under-21 coach John Callard has announced his squad for June's IRB U21 World Championships in Scotland. New Worcester signing Clive Stuart-Smith will captain the side that includes Zurich Premiership stars Ugo Monye and Marcel Garvey. Only two members of the 26-strong party named - Wasps prop Tom French and Worcester No.8 Mark Hopley - are uncapped at U21 level. French is capable of playing on either side of the scrum, and he has previously represented England at U18 level. Hopley, a member of the Worcester Academy, has been part of the squad all season and played for England U19 in last year's World Championships. "There's been a great deal of competition in some positions and we've had to make some difficult selection decisions," said Callard. "Many of the players were involved in last year's tournament and they built on that experience during the recent Six Nations, gaining confidence and a platform for a good performance next month." The squad will train at Newbury RFC from May 31 June 4, alongside four non-travelling reserves, before leaving for Scotland on June 9. The tournament that runs from June 7-28.
