Tri-Nations rugby: Staying on Sky
Sky Television have confirmed they have reached agreement with the unions of Sanzar (South Africa, New Zealand and Australia) to extend their broadcast agreement for a further five years.
The new deal, which will run from 2011 to 2015, covers the expanded Super 15 competition, the June Tests between New Zealand and northern hemisphere sides, the Tri-Nations, all inbound tours to New Zealand, Australia and South Africa including the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia in 2013 and New Zealand's domestic provincial competition - the ITM Cup - and South Africa's Currie Cup.
New Zealand Rugby Union chief executive Steve Tew said: "The announcement that the Sanzar unions have signed agreements with Sky Television in New Zealand is a very positive step and we are delighted to be extending our long-standing partnership with Sky."
He added the details of the agreement would be formally announced "in due course".

2 or 3 Super 14 games a weekend? That's if we're lucky. They barely seem bothered to even show one game sometimes. Both Conan and Wazsere on the mark that this should be spread around. Let's hope Argentina throw a spanner in the works and sell their tri nations games to someone other than Murdoch Sports(can't wait to see John O'Neill's face when that happens)

I thought Argentina were going to be included in the SANZAR making a new 4 nations comp. Will we be stuck with the repetitive tri-nations for another 5 years? Say it isn't so.

agree with conan - and no doubt SANZAR have sold themselves short (why else would the details be announced in "due course" ...??) and no doubt we'll see less rugby - when will the stuffed shirts in the various Unions learn: there isn't a decent broadcaster willing to service Rugby Union so single broadcasting rights don't work so they need to bring in competition plus start using the internet to by-pass the traditional broadcasters who can't or won't give this sport the decent coverage it should have !!

The great, now that they have all of the southern hemisphere rugby it would be nice to show some. Currently Sky only show two or three Super 14 games each weekend and most the early morning games. Very few of the day time matches from South Africa are shown. This is worse again for currie cup and Air NZ Cup.
All sky is interested in is the big test matches during the year.
