Bath dominate edinburgh

Edinburgh coach Rob Moffat had a few tricky questions to answer as his side departed Bath with a 49-21 drubbing on Saturday.

Edinburgh's pre-season has been decidedly light, according to most observers, and they have only the two warm-up matches before the Magners League gets underway on September 4 away at Cardiff Blues.

The team looked seriously off the pace, but Moffat insists that it will reap dividends in terms of fresher legs later in the season.

"It's a fine balance getting the right number of games going into the season," said Moffat, whose side will also take on London Irish on Friday, to the Daily Telegraph.

"Our plan has been just to have two. We have a lot of work to do over the next two weeks, we know that, but I still think that it would catch up with us later if we played more games."

Bath scored seven tries to Edinburgh's two, with the Scots giving away possession a number of times as Bath produced far more physicality.

"I thought we were really sloppy, especially in the first half," said Moffat.

"There must have been about 10 turnovers, half a dozen inside our 22. You get punished for that.

"But that's where we are at this stage. When we did put a bit of rugby together, at the beginning of the second half, we were dangerous. But we didn't give ourselves a chance to get on the front foot.

"efensively we've got a lot of work to do. We were exposed a number of times by Bath and we were a yard or two off the pace."
