London Wasps and Harlequins are believed to be interested in signing absent Wales centre Gavin Henson.
Henson's future remains in the balance with the 28-year-old having not played since March 2009 after becoming disillusioned with the sport due to injuries.
Henson had been expected to return to the Ospreys this summer, however he has been overlooked for their Magners League squad for the forthcoming season.
But despite Henson having a year left to run on his contract, he could now be offered the chance to revive his career in the Aviva Premiership.
Any move could be hampered as Henson is set to star in Strictly Come Dancing, while the Ospreys would expect him to honour his deal with them.
"If Gavin returns to rugby we would expect him to come back to us," said Ospreys elite performance director Andrew Hore, speaking to The Western Mail.
"He is contracted to us and, having given him that break, we would like to think we have been very good to him. Discussions are still occurring and who knows what will happen?
"From a team perspective, we have isolated it as an issue that has to be dealt with by the board.
"The reason we have done that is our management team is under enough stress and have a massive squad to deal with. We can't focus on if and when Gavin is going to be back or not, we just have to get on with the day-to-day running of the ship.
"He knows that the door is always open. He can knock and have a chat.
"It is just a matter of where Gavin is at and what he wants to do. You can't force someone to do something they don't want to. It will be hard for him to come back and it will have to be done on a progressive basis, which will take some time."

I think that Melbourne Rebels dropped the ball by not using some back channel approach to show some interest in signing him. Even if the best he did was use his name to draw fans to a new franchise; although I think he'd bring more to the table than that if healthy and committed.

If he wants to avoid injury the Premiership is the last place he'd want to go. He'd be better off seeking out a fresh start and some running rugby on an Australian Super 14 team.
