Michalak and Peyrelongue injured
Monday December 13 2004
Six Nations in doubt
Frederic Michalak of Toulouse and Julien Peyrelongue of Biarritz were both injured in the weekend's Heineken action and could both miss the Six Nations. Michalak plays either fly-half or scrum-half for France and Peyrelongue is seen by some as the best fly-half in France. In the 11th minute of the Pool 3 match between Toulouse and Northampton in Toulouse, Michalak limped off the field after being tackled by Andrew Blowers, Northampton's New Zealand loose forward. It appears that the talented 22-year-old has damaged the ligaments in his right ankle, which could mean a long lay-off. Biarritz played Calvisano in Calvisano and suffered the loss of flyhalf Peyrelongue, 23, with a knee injury which appears to be serious. Patrice Lagisquet, the Biarritz coach, was mush saddened by the injury as Peyrelongue means so much to the team but he was pleased by the class of replacement teenager Benjamin Dambielle. Castres did not return unscathed from Limerick. Apart from the suspension for prop Alessio Galasso who was sent off, young flank Alexandre Bias suffered a knee injury.
