WRU cracks down on wayward clubs

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has docked points from eleven clubs who have breached the rules laid down by the body regarding fixture postponement and player registration.

Among the clubs are Premiership teams Bridgend and Newbridge, each docked three points for postponing fixtures without offering a satisfactory explanation. The effects for Newbridge are worse, they now sit deep in relegation trouble.

Other clubs punished for the same offence were Brynmawr - who are bottom of Division One with minus six points after being docked for two offences - and Dinas Powys

Tondu, Canton, Furnace, Llanybydder, Gwernyfed, Gowerton and Pontardawe were all deducted three points, either for failing to fulfil fixtures or fielding ineligible players.

All clubs have the right to appeal within 14 days of the rulings.
