Scarlets suspend Boobyer

Llanelli Scarlets flanker Ian Boobyer has been suspended by the West Wales club until Jan 1st after finding him guilty of foul play during the Celtic League match at Cardiff Blues last weekend.

Boobyer's fancy footwork to the head of Blues' flanker Nathan Budgett left the Cardiff man's head streaming with blood in the hotly-contested game.

Boobyer was very fortunate to stay on the pitch after the incident, and the clubs representatives met after the game to talk over the situation.
 
The Blues agreed with Llanelli to do nothing about the incident via official channels, provided the Scarlets dished out sufficient punishment themselves.

"We cannot condone what happened and have acted accordingly." said Scarlets chief executive Stuart Gallacher

Boobyer has also been fined by Llanelli, and his ban not only prevents him from playing in the Celtic League side, but also from the semi-professional side.
