Robinson's prospects looking grim
Sunday August 01 2004
'It doesn't look rosy' says Henry
All Blacks lock Keith Robinson's chances of competing in the final two matches of the team's Tri-Nations tournament looked less likely on Sunday after he failed to take part in a light training run in Auckland. Robinson, who missed the All Blacks first two matches because of a back injury, injured his calf muscle during Waikato's warm-up match against North Harbour on Friday. "The medical staff are working with him, but it doesn't look that rosy," All Blacks coach Graham Henry told NZPA. "It would be a real pity if he doesn't go. He has been one of the success stories of the year." An announcement of the Chiefs lock's availability for the matches against the Wallabies on Saturday and the Springboks the following week is expected to be made on Monday with Blues second rower Ali Williams his likely replacement. The ABs have already been dealt a big blow with the loss of flanker Richie McCaw, who was forced to withdraw from the squad because of head-aches. "To lose Richie [McCaw] and him [Robinson], two very important guys in this group, would be very disappointing," Henry said. "But if it happens, we just have to get on with it and adjust." |
