Jones gears for 'royal scrap'

The Wallabies will not stand back

Eddie Jones, the Wallaby coach, who is astonished that England's second row forward Simon Shaw has not been suspended, has warned the English that if they want a fight the Wallabies will give them one.

Looking for a scrap: Eddie Jones

Shaw was sent off early in the first half of England's match with New Zealand. There had also been fighting, some of it involving Shaw, in the first Test.

In addition to the sending off of Shaw, Grewcock was cited and suspended till 31 August 2004.

Jones has now warned England that "if they wanted to play dirty on Saturday, Australia would accommodate them."

Speaking to Greg Growden of the Sydney Morning Herald from the Wallaby base at Coffs Harbour Jones said that England's tactics warranted close scrutiny.

"We don't have any fears about England, but certainly some of the stuff off the ball isn't what you want to see in international rugby," he said.

"I believe there has been some fairly harsh criticism of their tactics in the press in New Zealand. Certainly, what we've seen of it was that there was a lot of off-the-ball stuff. We need to play within the laws of the game. But we'll be ready for anything they've got."

He went on to say: "Obviously, England are going to approach the game in a physical no-nonsense way and they will target our forwards. We'll be happy to accommodate them."
